Design and Emerging Technologies (A/T/M)

The Design and Emerging Technologies course will allow students to use the design process to explore and develop a range of solutions in the forms of wearable art, jewellery, conceptual artforms, costumes etc. This allows students to engage in a range of mediums and develop skills across a broad selection of materials such as timber, metal, ceramics and textiles and will include opportunities to explore 3D printing and laser printing technologies and associated programs.

This multi-disciplinary design course will allow students the opportunity to develop their critical and creative skills alongside their personal design aesthetic creating a portfolio of work over four semesters, giving students the capability to expand into many creative areas in their future pathways. The course will investigate the following units across the two years Design Process, Product Design, Design for Manufacturing and Innovation and Design.

Units from Design and Emerging Technologies, Design and Graphics, Design and Textiles, Designed Environments and Engineering can be combined to make a Design and Technology minor, major, major minor or double major.
