Education Studies

Education Studies (T)

The Education Studies course pulls back the curtain on how schools work and how people learn. Students will gain insights into how they learn best, and into the learning of others. They will learn how to take complex information and turn it into something engaging and easy to understand, develop the “people skills” (interpersonal and intrapersonal) needed to manage classrooms and professional relationships and explore how schools shape society, from your local community to the global stage.

This interdisciplinary course will provide foundational understanding of education as an academic discipline, its methods for researching teaching and learning, and justifying and communicating findings. An understanding of the art of teaching will be developed, that allows students to communicate effectively, inspiring and engaging students in the process. Students will gain a wide variety of transferable academic and general skills in communication, literacy, numeracy, research and ethics and a deeper understanding of the diversity of learning, schools and teachers and their place in society, locally and globally. This course provides knowledge, understanding and skills for further study, work and life.
