Personal Development-Study Skills (R)
All Year 11 students are enrolled in the Personal Development – Study Skills (Study Support) course in Semester 1 to support their transition to college and to ensure they have the best foundation for success. This course provides targeted assistance to students to enhance their academic skills and overall learning experience whilst at college. The course helps students to acquire the study and work habits important for learning progress and achievement in college, and to access extra support and guidance from staff. Topics covered include orientation into the ACT senior secondary school system, including policies and procedures, student agency and independent learning, time management and organisational skills, essay planning and writing, research techniques, exam preparation strategies, academic integrity practices, literacy, numeracy and the soft skills required to succeed in a young adult learning environment.
